That's a Punto mk2, and the trim S didn't exist on that model, it started with SX, then EL, ELX, HLX, Sporting, HGT

i bet that the word veloce has something to do with the english word velocity, which means speed : o

The Punto mk2 was released in 1999 as a replacement for the Punto mk1 launched in 1994; the higlly reliable and well-spread 1108cc 55HP engine was retired, and fully replaced with the 1242cc 60HP 8v SOHC engine, capable of guaranteeing almost the same performances while respecting the EURO-2 and EURO-3 pollution rules. This engine was available on the trims EL (the base one, which replaced the old S), ELX, and SX. ELX and SX could also be equipped with a 1.9 JTD turbodiesel engine derived from the FIAT Bravo, capable of developing 90HP. The ELX could also be equipped with the best engine available for this car, the 1242cc 16v 80HP engine, built by FIAT in cooperation with Opel\GM.

Those are the standard trims; there were also some special ones:

HLX: the most luxurious one, available only with the 1.9 JTD or 1.2 16v engines, it had velvet interiors and automatic air conditioning; plus, it could be equipped with a 100W integrated subwoofer and radio with cd changer.

Sporting: the "sporty" one, available only with the 1.2 16v engine, it had 15" alloy rims, sideskirts and spoiler. The most sold Punto mk2 trim.

HGT: top of the class, this one was equipped with a 1747cc 16v engine with phase variation, derived from the Fiat Coupe and capable of developing 131HP. It looked exactly like the Sporting, except for the small HGT sign on the botton right of the trunk, which means "Get the f**k out of the way!!"
